While we may have avoided “breaking the internet” this year, we did grow our Instagram followers by quite a bit and we are forever grateful to all the friends and fans of Ron Ben-Israel Cakes. Looking back at 2017, we were curious to see which of our posts really made an impact on all of you out there in the social world and we wanted a chance to give them one more “shout-out” before we jump feet first into 2018. A new texture technique and some lustrous gold made this cake a standout on Instagram. The most exciting part? This cake will be making its magazine debut with a celebration of Prince Harry and his bride-to-be Meghan Markle with some additional design elements being added. Stay tuned for snaps of the photo shoot in partnership with LLG Events at the Lotte NY Palace Hotel!

Every year our design team works with Ron to come up with some fabulous personalized cakes as gifts for our industry partners. This year, rose gold and parchment colors with sugar twine made the cut. And the Black Forest Cake inside was just as delicious as the outside was beautiful!

We recently announced our Top 10 Cake Trends for Spring right here on this very site to wonderful acclaim. But our Instagram post for As The Cake Turns was an even bigger home run as over 6,000 people tapped that little heart to show us the love.

One of our favorite things to create are interpretive designs from nature. This tree cake was so realistic even we couldn’t believe it was edible…or maybe we thought it was just too pretty to eat!

When childhood fantasy meets real life artistry, this cake was created especially for our Head Chef, Jeffrey Jenkins’ sister’s baby shower. 3D elements truly took this cake to the next level and almost 7,000 people showed that Max is still King of the Wild Things.

We love it when clients want to think outside the box, or in this case, think of nothing but boxes! A true architectural masterpiece, our nod to Cubism and living life with joyful abandon.

Ron likes to pose with his cakes every now and again for good reason–they are all his babies and he hates to see them go! But he loves the looks on our couples’ faces when they first see their cake even more. So, he eventually gets over his separation anxiety, but not without a few tears and lots of sweets.

This past year we auctioned off the cake stand for one of the most ambitious and glamorous projects Ron Ben-Israel Cakes has ever tackled. The cake from Sex and the City 2 still holds up as innovative and stunning all these years later, just like Carrie Bradshaw herself.

One of our most unique cakes Ron has ever created, this design has inspired countless variations by other cake designers over the years. This lotus beauty is the reason he is known as the “Sweet Genius.”

One of the cakes we created for Martha Stewart Weddings magazine Winter 2018 latest issue was our biggest hit of 2017. And rightly so! This knitted cake took hours upon hours as each aspect was carefully molded or completed by hand and then “knitted” together to create this snuggly sweet stunner.
And as 2018 arrives with its frigid temperatures and new challenges, we cannot wait to break our own Instagram record and set the trends for years to come. Won’t you join us for the ride?
