Leonardo DaVinci’s, “Salvator Mundi,” is now on record as the highest priced painting ever sold at auction; a record set by Christie’s Auction House in New York City this past November. The price tag? $450 million dollars. A staggering amount considering it all began with the maestro using a pencil and parchment to sketch the genesis of this masterpiece before bringing it to life with paint on a piece of walnut.
Artists of all kinds use simple methods to record the seeds of an idea, lest their minds forget them. The translation from imagination to hand can be a long journey for some and one that can be filled with second-guessing (thank you Mr. Priestly, discoverer of the pencil eraser for allowing us unlimited chances to get it right.) But whether your great idea begins on a cocktail napkin during a gin-soaked evening or in your sun-filled artist’s studio on the banks of the Seine River, a concept cannot become whole until it is manifested and shared with others.

At Ron Ben-Israel Cakes, our clients are able to experience the same type of artistry that begins with just a sketch. Using all aspects of the wedding for inspiration, from the flowers to the invitation to the garments being worn on the big day, Ron is able to create a custom design that is unique to each client. These sweet works of art are deliberately and specifically tailored to each client in an effort to ensure they are receiving a one-of-a-kind creation. While it may originate from within the imagination, our cakes owe their sweet lives to the stroke of a pen in the studied hand of their creator.
