A Sweet Take on New York Fashion Week

As we complete another New York Fashion Week, designers, influencers and modelistas alike have turned up the volume on what is essential to be seen wearing in the coming seasons.  From boxy, oversized blazers to 70s inspired leathers, these glam looks remind us that it is time to embrace avant-garde fashion once again, if only to help break us away from our terrible “ath-leisure” addiction.

The resurgence of dressing for travel is clearly en vogue as New Yorkers have been taking every opportunity to turn the sidewalks of the city into their own fashion runway during the 2018 NYFW.  Whether they are flaunting their couture Parisian florals as they make a quick coffee run or hailing an Uber while sporting day-glo yellow accents, there is no shortage of fashionistas in town right now inspiring us all.

Our latest cake model decided to grace the New York City subway system to celebrate the end of NYFW and to remind her fellow riders to “schuzz” it up on their daily commute.  She is showing off her five tier winter white fondant embellished with chains of delicate floral bands in dove gray to complete her “Lauren Hutton in American Gigolo” vibe.  And what’s a properly outfitted traveller without a stylish hat?  Our model is sporting the darker jewel tones of the season in burgundy and aubergine sugar flowers with olive and evergreen leaf accents.  She understands that to truly pull off a Confectionary Couture look, you must be able to master a “pop” of color to define yourself in an urban landscape.

While in the underground, our cake model loves to mingle with her fellow New Yorkers and drink in the entertainment that the city provides.

She ends her day by shaking her groove thing with Rainiero N. Lopez, a singer extraordinare who performs daily at the 42nd Street Subway A/C/E station.  Rainiero is creating his own unique NYFW statement with his mini backup dancers, and our cake fashionista couldn’t help but join right in!  But as much as our cake model loves a party, she won’t be adding backup dancers into her fashion repertoire.  She prefers to let her sugar flowers do all the talking.
